We don’t do Black Friday only Black Labels
After the frenzy of last week’s Black Friday sales, it made me think: at Bizoe Wines we don’t do Black Fridays — we produce Black Labels!
On that note, I’m excited to share that our Bizoe Idioglossia Malbec 2020 has received 95 points from the American Express Wine Awards.
I just looked back and saw that my last blog was in June, I can’t believe how fast the time has flown! It truly shows what a crazy year it’s been. Reflecting on the year, there have been some mighty highs:
- Bizoe Idioglossia Malbec scoring 95 points from American Express
- Bizoe Genant 2022 and Rikus Neethling Chenin Blanc 2024 named in the Top 10 by Wine Magazine
- Bizoe Henrietta 2024 and Bizoe Genant 2022 achieving 4.5 stars in the latest Platter Guide 2026
It’s with real gratitude that we look back on an amazing year.
Between June and now, Bizoe has travelled all over the country. The Clarens Wine Festival was a new and exciting addition to the calendar. The Grape Hustle Road Show along the Garden Route is always a highlight every year. I even did a corporate event for Nashua South Africa at Oubaai Resort.
There was also a quick stop in Edinburgh to visit our friends at Terroir Wines, followed by the annual Vintners’ Hall tasting hosted by Davy Wine Merchant in London. At the Davy tasting, I had the privilege of tasting a port produced in 1881 — the kind of experience you can only dream of.
The vineyards are looking healthy, although we’re currently in a very hot, dry, and windy spell, so a bit of rain would be welcomed. Otherwise, we’re looking forward to a cracker of a 2026 harvest. Most of the crucial work has been done; now it’s all about managing the canopy (leaf density) and creating the optimal ripening conditions for the fruit.
As I’m typing this, the cellar is winding down and we’re labelling our last wines for 2025. The Bizoe Idioglossia Malbec 2022 is next on the line. Those travelling on South African Airways this holiday season might spot it in the lounge or even onboard an international flight.
We’re looking forward to 2026 and wish you all a blessed Christmas. Enjoy some Bizoe Wines with your family during this festive time.
Thank you for your support throughout 2025 — here’s to a brilliant 2026!
